I'd like to throw this name out there for anyone who picked up M&B through the steam sale: Prophecy of Pendor. It has the most spit and polish of any M&B mod I've played, and it adds a lot of good features to the game.

Some of the cooler features:
•Player as King option and Enhanced Kingdom Management system. Declare yourself as a Monarch and play at a new level and all that goes with it.

•6 Playable Factions with extended troop trees for each (15-19 per tree).
◦The Kingdom of Ravenstern – Blue - The Northern Dragon. Valiant warriors who value freedom.
◦The Fierdsvain – Green - Fearless and strong, masters of the battlefield on land and sea.
◦The Kingdom of Sarleon – Red - The Golden Lion. Upholding Honor and the traditions of the Old Kingdom. .
◦The D’Shar Principalities – Brown- These once nomadic tribesmen are swift as the wind, and deadly as the cobra.
◦The Empire - Gold - The Bold Eagle. Disciplined and brave making a last stand or new beginning.
◦Player Kingdom – Yours to define.

•Expanded Economic Model- build dozens of new structures at your village, castles and towns. Structures can be damaged and destroyed when locations are conquered or raided.

•Knighthood Orders- The top tier troops can only be created at chapters of knighthood orders that are located at various castles and towns. Some Orders already exist in the game, others are defunct and are up to the player to discover and reestablish. You decide what orders to promote, destroy, keep or create and where. In addition you can enhance the skills and attributes of these upper echelon troops in the game.

•More powerful soldiers and increased troops.. added 150 more troops to encounter and work with.

•Expanded NPC's. 20 unique companions with enhanced dialogue.

•Addition of over 475 new items.

•Dynamic Conversation System. - This system will allow for the interaction with various merchants, travelers, stewards, barkeeps, and Red Brotherhood slavers and yield location specific, relevant and dynamic content that will affect game play.

Thanks! I did just get the M&B, though if I had paid attention and realized it was a Paradox game, I would have skipped it. The mod looks very good, and I've dl'd it for future use.

It sounds like you're trolling, but I'm going to go ahead and ask:

What's wrong with Paradox?

I don't have any experience with them outside of M&B, which I haven't had any bad experiences with.

Not very familiar with Paradox's catalog but Mount & Blade has been a blast to play. It has some really great ideas underneath it all.

If you haven't already, give the Warband expansion beta a try. The multiplayer is extremely fun.

Yeah, what do you have against Paradox?

I have been a fan of their games since Europa Universalis I. My favorite game publisher because they push the envelope and build the most detailed games out there.

They had a setback with release of Hearts of Iron III which seemed to be a bit premature, but at least the thing about Paradox is they are going to be relentless in patching it until it is solid

Mount and Blade is a good game. I am even beta testing the multiplayer version Warband.

The game is like 75% of the way to pure genius. If they just got a better economic model and better micromanaging of castles/fiefs it would be A LOT better.

Heck take CiV4 and on encounters zoom into this type of battle. Where you play a foot soldier...or anything really.

Don't get me wrong, I like a number of the Paradox games. I would play them more -- if I could play them at all. They've been very, very buggy for me. Now, the combination of Steam and Win7 64bit seems to cause a lot of trouble as well. Check out their forums for people running into CTD issues.

I have finally gotten Europa Universalis 3 stable at In Nominae, but the previous versions crashed consistently. EU Rome (which I unfortunately like best of that series) has developed a trick of going to a certain point and then crashing within minutes of playing from that point. In every run in the game. There are a number of different attempted solutions for this (none of which have worked for me), which tells me there are lots of problems in the code. I have never managed to play an EU:Rome game to the finish because of this.

They are a small independant game company that makes cool games, and I would like to support them, but I do actually want to play the game.

I got through the intro to M&B without crashing, so here's fingers crossed.

They don't make M&B. Paradox is just the publisher. TaleWorlds is the developer.

M&B:Warband releases March 30th according to Talesworld's website. Those that been wanting M&B multiplayer will especially be happy with WB. Personally, I'm looking forward to this new game.
