MotoX and battery drain

So, I was experiencing SERIOUS battery issues with my MotoX from 2013. After the last android upate and an update to Active display I would be losing like 20-30% of my battery to android OS over the course of a few hours.

Turning off active display has solved the issue. Just putting it out there for anyone else experiencing this with their phone. After an update to either Android or Active Display the phone was continuously turning on in my pocket and completely draining my battery.

There is some bug with Active Display now because the phone never turned on in my pocket when I first had the phone. I'm now back to still have 40-50% battery after using the phone fairly heavily for around 8 hours.

Did you check the app selection to see which ones active display is trying to publish? Anything odd there?

Last week I got an update to WeatherBE that just completely destroyed my battery life. It was chewing up almost 40% of all battery use. Dumped that app and back to normal. What did the battery screen show for the most battery consumption?

I have a Verizon Moto X 2013, latest updates, zero issues. It's been off charger since 7am (currently after 4pm) and I'm at 80% battery. Mine continuously has active notifications going (primarily work / personal email and texts) with no noticeable hit to battery. IIRC it's a battery saving feature, isn't it?

Android OS the phone was basically on every time I would remove it from my pocket.

I never update apps unless I absolutely have to. Lately every update either removes features, introduces bugs, or changes something that I liked another way

Can you recommend a good battery usage tracking app?

I used to religiously update apps on my phones but I wised up. I only do it when necessary or when I feel like it. I agree that it is a better default practice - to update when it is needed or when the benefit is clear, not to update just because.

P.S. You are now a lifer!
