hese aren't the droids you're looking for' proclaims Motorola, maker of the popular Android smartphones such as the Droid 2 and Droid X. At least, not if you have any intention of loading a customized operating system. According to Motorola's own YouTube channel, 'If you want to do custom roms, then buy elsewhere, we'll continue with our strategy that is working thanks.' The strategy they are referring to is a feature Motorola pioneered called 'e-fuse', the ability for the phone's CPU to stop working if it detects unauthorized software running.

"We apologize for the feedback we provided regarding our bootloader policy. The response does not reflect the views of Motorola. We are working closely with our partners to offer a bootloader solution that will enable developers to use our devices as a development platform while still protecting our users' interests. More detailed information will follow as we get closer to availability...

"So we attempt to answer nearly all comments raised on this channel across over 130 videos and in a timely fashion. Sometimes we make a mistake, and the remark we agree could have been better phrased and more polite. So we do apologise, and that we will continue to monitor feedback on the wider discussion and pass that along. Thank you."

Translation: There is a 19 yr old intern out there looking for a job ...

HTC has always been flash friendly, only problem is they only have one phone on Verizon.

There's not enough CPU power if the entire planet was a computer to brute force that in a timely manner. Naive brute-forcing doesn't work against something of that calibre =(

I'm all for it, but brute forcing RSA 1024 . . . not sure there's enough CPU power on the planet to do that in a timely manner.

oh we'll be long dead by then. the shot of this is like winning the lottery. but it would be a brutal smackdown and an in your face to Motorola if we somehow got lucky.

True, assuming your goal is to brute force the entire keyspace. But the idea here is that you might get lucky and someone hits the solution long before you reach the end...

Umm you do realize that if you want the Android experience you can go somewhere else? Motorola isn't the only game in town. That's part of Android, freedom to choose what phone you want.

and that's the beauty of Android
