Motorola V70 available on Cingular website

Just found out... but i think it's a single-band 1900 only... which is disappointing considering its $500 pricetag. Pimping purposes only. I'll go check it out at the stores later. 🙂

looking at that page and the net info it seems like this phone is tri-band: 900, 1800 and 1900.

any of the US providors going to have this? finally i found something that i would trade for my old 8062.

WTH? What a weird-looking little phone. Tough to see paying $550 when you can buy a V60 for $125.

EDIT: Ahh - now I get it! It unfolds like a pocketknife by rotating around the round display area. Still way too spendy for me, but it is pretty neat. The Motorola page on it is here.

This phone looks pimpin' but functionality is lacking...

Buttons too small and hard to push
Text messaging different than the other V. series.

It's definitely single-band... i just went to go check it out and it runs at 1900. The European version runs at 900/1800. Some people are claiming that they do have tri-band models but Motorola is denying it... perhaps planning to release it later in the year so as not to hurt sales of the single band model. It's $549 with no contract... and $399 with two year contract... both are a bit too much considering how lacking it is in features. A brand new unlocked v60g is only $300 and and a V66 SE is $275... both are tri-bands. It's a pretty phone... somewhat girly actually since its so small and curvy... but like i said... just for pimping purposes only and maybe rap videos... bling bling.

First of all, V70 is GSM (Voicestream, Cingular) phone and I don't think CDMA (sprintpcs, Verizon) or TDMA (AT&T) will ever get this phone. (hell, CDMA/TDMA carrier never get any good phone anyway)

what's special about it.
Motorola's new V66 and V70 design to be WEARABLE mainly for female market. Both has inter-changeable color bezel and fit their everyday wear (remember Gucci's female watch?)
At the same time, Louis Vuitton and Gucci has specific neck strap for these two phone also. (I learn that from my wife 😉 ) Eurpoe/Asia jewel designer also has diamond/ gems into those bezel for these specific phone. (like Rolex Oyster style)

For most us, it does looks kinda strange. But I learn that woman doesn't want big phone, but smaller phone is hard to reach in their hand bag. EXTREMELY light weight small phone that can wear on their neck become a big + .

Both V66 and V70 pack w/ feature, but the button is so small and hard to operate that we guys can barely sent out any msg or take the advantage of its new 4+1 GPRS function. (my point exact! they (female) don't care!!!)

So is it worth $500? Chances are if you buy your wife this phone, you going to prepare spend extra ($110) on Louis Vuitton neck strap. ($95) Gucci hand strap + 18K gold bezel ($225) + Tiffany Design Ruby 3 stone ($475).

However, even they give me the phone for free, I 'd not carry it around, that's for sure.
But you can get V70, V66 triband UNLOCK phone for much cheaper, if you know where to look.

the v70 is definitely a fashion statement, it's pure style. the functionality is about the same as motorola's other V series, and initial reports say it doesn't feel quite as nice. once the hype dies down you're in a $500 hole

I just got the v120 Cheapo phone from verizon. for me it's perfect. i hate those smaller phones. they are just to small to operate comfortably.
