Does anyone have the Motorola T720 from Verizon Wireless? I am trying to understand how to put keystokes in to make my own songs. You can find this section by going to your menu button and then to Media Center then My tones and then New Tones you can name it and enter notes there but I am lost, I hope it is not trial and error... Is there a list of what key makes what tone, etc...

Yes, I know it does. I just got a new software upgrade which was supposed to take care of problems like not recieving txt messages or locking up on me. Well they fixed that. However, now I just get voice mails and once in a while a phone call actually gets through instead of going right to voice mail. Anyway, I still would like to know how to use some of these features before I get a new phone.

I want to know how to compose my own ringtones using the MY Tones section of the phone. So, I am just wondering if there is a list of what alphanumeric value stands for what note for the phone.

You can just compose ringtones on your computer in midi format, then download them to your phone... No need to do it on the phone itself...

Funny, mine works great. Had it almost a year now with never a single problem. Do you actually have one yourself or are you just posting out your ass from something you read on an internet forum?

I'm in the same boat as you, had mine for about a year, no complaints at all.

wirelessadvisor.com has some great forums, lots of t720 peeps there too

I use all midi ring tones on mine, also have some voice tones (the guy from Office Space says "I believe you have my stapler" when i get a text message)

So I take it I have to get a Keyboard and a sound card that can import those sounds?

Yep... Basically you can use any midi file as your ringtone... So you can find songs you like in midi format and download them onto your phone...

Same here. I've got the T720 with T-Mobile and haven't had any problems at all.

Excellent, thanks for your help. I assume I use the cable I use for my Mobile Office Kit? Or is there another way to download the midi files? Do I have to get special software to upload to my phone?

Don't think you can use the cable, since there's no software for it... what I do is, upload my midi files onto some web server, then type in the URL using my WAP browser on the phone... The phone will automatically recognize it's a ringtone and starts downloading...

You might have to pay for mobile data charges this way though, depends on your plan... So might make sense to shorten up those midi files to decrease the size...

hmm, If people were able to do this so easily then what is GETITNOW cr@p all about ??
There is HUGE difference between T720 with verizon and the one with other carriers.

Yes this phone sucks and I will never ever buy another phone from motorola again. Those bastages couldn't fix the phone so they just put a new cover on it and now sell the same garbage as T730.

Don't know... I have been downloading ringtones this way for a long time now... works everytime for me...

I just upload the midi files to my own webserver and access them through WAP... no problem whatsoever...

ya, that's the biggest joke in the history of marketing. the T730 is a T720 with the bugs ironed out. :(

the fact that they don't just upgrade all the T720 owners should be considered a crime.

Once you access the midi files through WAP, the phone recognizes it's a ringtone... It will then download it automatically and save them in your 'My Tones' folder... It even plays it back to you as soon as it finishes downloading...

Nothing special u need to do... just access the file through WAP and the phone does the rest...

By WAP browser I guess you mean the Openwave browser that comes with the phone. When I try that I get Key not Recognized error. It won't even get the new key.

thanks.
