Motorola SBG901 Connection Problems... Help?

This has been bugging me for half-a-year now and I really don't have a clue what it is. Every time I restart my computer or come back from sleep mode the Internet connects straight away and I'm able to get online almost instantly - and then, just as soon as the second page is about to load, it just completely times out dead as a rock. After about a minute, I get the Yellow ! of Doom followed by the indicator that it's back (but it's not) followed another minute or two later by that rotten ! followed by the "connected" indicator and maybe once or twice more until finally it's legitimately connected again and the connection goes at a crawl for roughly 3 minutes and then straightens itself back to the 22Mbps it should be and works perfectly without a single fault or glitch until I restart or "sleep" my computer. Now, this has happened across three entirely different laptops with the only similarity being Windows 7. Vista won't connect to this router (no idea why), tablets work perfectly regardless of iOS or Android - same for phones, and these same exact laptops work flawlessly under Linux Mint or Ubuntu. I've tried pre-defining settings (like channel) on the router, I've tried pre-defining IP/DNS addresses, but it makes no difference - it does it Every. Single. Time. I just once again fresh-wiped Win 7 on this laptop with brand-new drivers, but same old problems...

EDIT: I just discovered my modem keeps an event log. All over the log I see this 4x DHCP RENEW sent - Invalid DHCP option . I think that's what's doing it. I also believe it's related to this article, but I don't know what to do with that information:

Thanks, guys!

Are you sure that you have connectivity on that first page or is the browser loading your homepage from history? For instance, if your home page is google do you get the auto return when you type something in the search field?

Regarding the link, have you tried doing as suggested and running ipconfig to check your IP address? If you aren't getting the auto-config address (169.254.x.x) then it doesn't seem relevant. I'd check it before even opening a browser on reboot.

One thing I would consider as a 'why not' effort is disable IPv6. You say this has been happening for 6 months? this might be helpful http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2533454

It seems you may be on to something with the IPv6 thing... Here's what I found. When I restarted my computer after reading your post, it comes up straight away with:

Windows IP Configuration

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix.:

I was then able to navigate a couple of site as usual. After a minute or so, however, it posted:

And then a couple of minutes later it was back to:

Does that all mean anything? Should I pre-define that IPv6 Address? Would that even help since it seems to think it's disconnected?

Thanks!

Okay... one more thought. I read that the Teredo device generally shouldn't be in use and is often related to multiple Win 7 devices in a homegroup. I then tried setting the connection type to "Work" instead of "Home" and restarted. The connection did the same thing but for a much briefer period. It was only down for roughly less than a minute before functional. ipconfig showed the same thing the whole time, however:

Thusly...?

Sorry, one last one... I discovered the ipconfig /all command and thought it might be more useful. I believe you are correct and the browser is only initially loading a saved version of the websites and then finally connects a bit later. That said, for the first few attempts here, I did not have Internet connection. Nevertheless, I don't see any change in the results between the first few where I had no connection and the last two where I did have a connection... What am I missing here:

I wouldn't worry about what the IPv6 addresses are. Computers are supposed to be able to make up their own and then get a network number to tack on. I think (read: wild speculation) that this:
4x DHCP RENEW sent - Invalid DHCP option
could be referring to the hosts trying to get full IPv6 info and that's confusing your router/modem. Hopefully someone who really knows about multiple win7 hosts dhcp can chime in, but I'd just recommend disabling IPv6 on your windows 7 computers to see what happens.

I should clarify that there is only one Windows 7 computer. It's just my laptop and my wife's tablet at present. I'll try disabling IPv6 when I get home (best way to do that?). I believe after looking at it that the times for the 4x DCHP RENEW errors don't line up with the times on my laptop. I think that may be an unrelated issue that the router has roughly once a day or once every couple of days.

Why would this be handled differently in Win 7 than in Linux? That seems to be the core of the issue is the way something is handled differently...

I can't speak to what win 7 is doing different from linux. You could run wireshark on the interface and record what it's putting out if you really wanted to dig into it. You could then compare the output on the same laptop from one OS to the other. That would require extra digging around that might not be necessary, though.

One thing that's standing out as I look through your posts is your DHCP lease time.

Only 1 hour? The default is typically 24hrs, so it makes me wonder if any other settings have been altered.

By coincidence, I actually noticed that as well when I was digging around in my router settings. You say it's typically 24 hrs? I know right in my router it says "Lease Time: 3600seconds"... I'll try cranking that up...
