Motorola phones = security risk!

They still echo DTMF when you depress keys!

This is absolutely preposterous! I can walk around an airport terminal with a pair of minmics and DAT and get everyone's phone number and PIN.

what are you going to do with a phone number and vmail password...OMG ARE YOU THE ONE WHO'S BEEN DELETING MY VOICEMAIL?!!??!?

Who really manually types in numbers and PINs now? The only PIN I'd have to enter is in memory for my voicemail, and I'd go through my address book to call someone.

DTMF?

Pardon my ignorance.

Dual-tone-multi-frequency
Basically, it is the sound that your touch-tone phone makes when you press a button.

So, how does this echo your pin? Or is it because you'd have to type your pin in a public place?

Ok I did a little googling and found out what this is/how it works.

What I don't understand is why it matters wether the dtmf is set to long/short/off.
How does turning it off affect the phone's performance?
