Pretty good deal, but there is a waiting line I believe. I ordered mine a few days back and it's scheduled for delivery anytime between November 11-December 11. I talked to a customer service rep and he told me it should ship within 4 weeks..so who knows..but it's a pretty damn good price :D

Shows up for me as $174.99 after rebate.

Either way, I'm already in a contract for an i730 I bought :(

I agree. I think it looks spanking and I'd get it but it's so expensive and I'm still locked in contract :(

wow, you must know jack squat about cell phones now, don't you?

1. that v3 is a GSM phone, therefore, you can only use it on T-Mobile, ATT Wireless, and Cingular
2. why get the v3 when you can get the same phone (v600) in a less flashy casing, they have the SAME EXACT feature sets, along with ATTWS's v505

personally, i think that this is a great deal, the i860 is simply the best phone nextel has to offer, those who aren't tied by a contract or different service agreement, buy 2 if you can :D

Before you insult him, maybe you should click the link. That link goes to the RAZR V3, a phone that is not even out yet. This has absolutely nothing to do with the V300/V400/V500/V600 series phones, which are virtually identical to each other. It's almost certainly GSM (most new phones are), but I would have to say it is much easier on they eye than the tetris-looking i860, and all he was comparing is the looks.

That said, this doesn't seem like to much of a deal when you can get T-Mobile phones where they PAY YOU $100 to take it off their hands. ;) Yes I know some people either need the Nextel service or are not in a medium-to-large city that can get the best benefit out of T-Mobile service, but it sure ain't hard to chose between a -$100 phone and a +$200 phone if your carrier choice doesn't matter!

Yeah, but sheik124's point is that you can't use it with Nextel. There are much nicer phones in Japan, but you can't use them here either, so it doesn't matter.

that v3 is ridiculously sexy.

i think my girlfriend is going to get hold of one as soon as it comes out in japan; price is likely going to be close to a thousand dollars, which is what my friend paid for his nokia 8910 when it was the hot item a year or so ago.

All I'm saying is this phone has amazing features, and for the price Amazon is giving it for (whatever that is) it's a damn good deal. And that other cell phone I think looks weird...why does it have that huge weird thing on the bottom of it...bleh..and it might not be available for nextel..

Maybe it's a good deal for a phone with Nextel service, but it sure isn't a good deal for cellular phones in general.

I'm not sure what features are so amazing about it that all the top 5 phones on Amazon don't have as well.

You're right you can't buy the phones from Japan and use them in the US, because Japan uses PDC mode. As silly as it sounds, Japan is the ONLY country that uses this mode!

By far the most common technology in the world is GSM, which exists in over 200 countries. This is the reason why GSM providers always get the new phone models much quicker.

So while GSM user's can't buy a phone from Japan and use it here, I can certainly buy a phone from Asia, or Europe, for example, and use it in the US with no problems. And those phones are usually more advanced than the US models, because the US is always a year or two behind in mobile technology. Japan being the front-runner.

Check out this crazy snippet I just read:
"According to research from IPS, 52 percent of youths younger than 19 only communicate through mobile email. About 60 percent had their virginal Internet experience through their mobile phone, and a whopping 70 percent of the mobile content market is generated by teens.

Nowadays, Japanese schools tend to be a lot quieter -- because students don't have time to talk anymore. They prefer instead to spend their free time sending and reading emails or browsing the Web during breaks."

if you paid absolutely any attention to the mobile phone market, you'd sure as hell know that the V3 is widely availible on the net, it has been released (just not picked up by US carriers yet). and it has absolutely everything to do with the v300/400/5xx/and v600 phones because it uses the same software and gui, the moto Triplets series. as a matter of fact the ONLY differences it between its half-priced and 1 third priced counterparts, the v600 and v505/v525 is a slim (ugly imo) metal body, extended range bluetooth (who cares) and a color screen not worthy of noting, its like a 96x24 CSTN screen. next time try checking out a cell phone place like www.howardforums.com or www.howardchui.com, phonescoop.com is also a great place

again, my intentions weren't to rant, but i ended up ranting anyways

EDIT: oh btw, since when do they pay you to take them, hah! thats only for new customers and it involves 4-6 week rebates, just like this deal, besides, who'd go with T-Mobile to start with, their coverage map looks more like a road map

Let's see...the #1 phone on Amazon DOESN'T have video capture abilities, walkie-talkie abilities, etc etc...matter of fact NONE of the top 10 phones do..so check yourself foo :p

Let's see, Push To Talk is a Nextel SERVICE, not so much a feature of the phone (although the phone does need to support it, obviously). If other carriers offered that and some are planning it, if they don't have it already, then it would work for them too.

And
Has video capability

No offense taken. You got me there...I didn't know the V3 uses the same software and was just going by the fact that the Motorola web site in question says "coming soon" on it. Usually the manufacturer themselves aren't incorrect, so I falsely assumed it's wasn't out yet. My mistake.

I have both howardforums and howardchi bookmarked, although I visit the sites only every once in a while.

About T-Mobile: Do you frequently drive cross-country testing your mobile phone or do you use it in 1 area about 99% of the time? I live in Houston, so I don't have issues with coverage. I would go with Verizon if I was some kind of nation-wide traveling salesman or if I lived in a place away from any big cities. I received my rebate from Amazon in about 60 days. I plan on doing it again when my 1-year contract is up. Read the fine print, you can do this. I will have to change my number, but I change my number about every 2 years anyway--no big deal. I'm also very happy that I'm not locked in for more than a year and still got the new mid-level phone for -$100. So yes, they did pay me for it.

I don't mean to rant either, but I will argue to the death that this is not a hot deal unless you either A) require nextel service, or B) do not have any GSM (at&t, cingular, t-mobile) in your area, which means you can't choose from the numerous better deals on amazon.
