wow, their family plans are really expensive. With T-mobile, I pay $49.99/month for 2 lines that share 400 anytime, unlimited nights/weekends. Their closest offering would cost me $60/month, and doesn't have unlimited nights/weekends. I really would like an MPx220 though...

Hard to directly compare T-mobile and cingular. Their coverage areas are MUCH different.

Great deal, thanks, OP!

Huh? I signed up for cingular about 3 months ago, we pay $60/month for 2 lines that share 800 minutes, free nights and weekends, and rollover (which we have accumulated 400 minutes worth in 3 months)

Right from their website:

Monthly Cost *$59.99
Additional phone line$9.99
Anytime minutes850
Night & Weekend minutes
UnlimitedMobile To Mobile minutesUnlimited
Additional minutes$0.35 per minute
Long distanceIncluded
Roaming chargesIncluded
One-time activation fee$18.00
Contract length2 years

So for 850 minutes, 2 lines, according to that, it would cost me $70/month.

It may be 60 60 bucks for that plan but you better watch out for taxes, i'm currently paying 9 dolalr worth of tax on my 29.99 plan which I think is bS! never the less it's a sour deal with a 2 year commitment!!

as an alternative, Amazon has the Nokia 6230 Phone (Cingular) for FAR with a one year contract.

With Tri-Band, IR, Bluetooth, EDGE, Camera (VGA), Video (4 min), FM Player, mp3 player, Voice Recorder (3 min), Speakerphone, Voice Dialing (25 slots), expandable MMC slot (will NOT work with SD cards), and excellent PC Sync, this phone packs quite a bit! Small screen, but it gets the job done more elegantly than phones with larger screens

Where does buy.com put the required contract on the phones? I only want a one year.

Cuz even if you sign up at the cingular website, they require 2 year agreement.
It's how Buy.com makes money.
Offer rebates and require 2 years.
Signing up customers for 2 years = more money for them.

Yeah, i just didn't see that the second page only had two page plans.

This verizon phone, though, allow you to pick a one year plan, does this mean their offers stand with the one year?

Check if Amazon.com is offering it.
if they are buy it from them. Most if not all Amazon.com contracts are 1 year.
I would loive to get in on the MPX220 deal but I hate 2 year contracts.

You should adjust the title to indicated smartphone. A PDA phone would be like the Tmobile MDA or Cingular Siemens SX66. But good deal.

the correct term is "Smartphone" as a Treo 600 is a PDA Smartphone.

Oh well, same difference.

Don't forget that Cingular gives you 30 days to try it and you can return it, which is the best in the industry. Not sure how that policy works with Buy.com though.

Anyone have experience with this phone? I'm still using my old ATT Wireless plan and I wasn't planning on changing unless I could find a good phone deal.

Did anyone else notice that buy.com has a 2.99 option for 100 text messages that amazon does not have, I thought text messaging was free. BTW I just ordered the ngage from amazon, free after 150.00 rebate, 1 year contract.

I'm curious, I'm over a year into a 2 year contract with AT&T Wireless right now. I'm pretty interested in the MPx220 though... is there a way I could take advantage of this deal somehow by way of how Cingular is letting AT&T customers switch over after the merger?

Yeah, you can choose a Cingular plan and not have to worry about any early termination fee. You should also be able to keep your current phone number.

Zadilo, you can bring your account over to the orange (cingular) side at any time. It is considered a migration, so you do not have to pay ETF fees. You cannot activate a new account with Cingular however, then expect AT&T to wavie the ETF fees. We have a lot of customers that seem to not realize then are hit with the fees. I would suggest you stop into your local Cingular store for more details. And I know my name wouldn't imply it, but I work for Cingular.

I just signed a contract with AT&T, tell me exactly how I can get this deal from Buy.com. I signed through Amazon and I have a MIR from Amazon pending with them. Will that matter? Also, I have a FAN with AT&T, will Cingular honor it?
