Hey guys! i was looking at cellphones online (im finally getting one, yay), and i found the E815, ive heard mostly good things about this phone, i.e., it gets pretty good reception. but what do YOU guys think? anyone had any experiences with it? Thanks in advance

i bought one from ebay a few weeks ago since i lost my 3 month old phone... it has a great speaker, screen, and basic features. the camera quality leaves much to be desired... very unimpressed with it. but overall i like it very much.

I have one, I like it. It really does get amazing reception. I had an LG VX6000, which got pretty decent reception, but this phone blows it out of the water. I almost always have full bars or close to it. The features are nice, although I don't use a lot of them. I took a few pictures the first day, and haven't since. I have a digital camera for that. I do play a lot of games on it though. I got it for $14.99 though work, so I couldn't go wrong with it.

Thanks guys for your replies. yeah i think ima stick with this phone, most reviews say its a pretty good phone. Thanks again

Yes Sir!

I went from a V710 to an E815, I love then thing, always have full bars, I can even make calls from the parking lot 1 store down. I love it, Looks nice.

Its a good phone because its the 710 remaded to be perfect. fixed all nic nacs from the 710 to make the because one of the E line.

I don;t know how to do it, but I would love to unlock mines Blue tooth.

The E815 is a good phone, but I'm not impressed with many of the add-on features. The camera takes lousy pictures (even for a 1.3 MP camera phone!), the video camera takes horrid videos, the Bluetooth functionality is a pain to configure, and the MP3 player will not play Apple .AAC format or Windows Media .WMA format files.

Verizon decided not to include any games with it, either, and they charge outrageous prices for basic things like ringtones and wallpaper. That's not a knock on the phone, but I thought that I'd mention it.

This phone has good reception and battery life, though, which are the most important features on a cell phone.

I have an E815. It's a great phone all around...good reception, etc.

Do the seeme modifications that are outlined on HowardForums to unlock more of the features, such as bluetooth OBEX transfers, and the ability to transfer your own ringtones and backgrounds to the phone using a data cable or BT card.

It may seem like it is going to be really difficult to do this, but I assure you it is very very simple.

I'd take it over the Samsung or LG 8100 VCAST phones.

The LG you can't close the phones flip and talk.

The Samsung you can however.

But, the Moto doesn't use that horrid VCAST menu, it uses a motorola menu which is much nicer and you can configure it more to your liking.

The only reason Verizon forced that VCAST menu on phones was easier tech support.

I have had it for about 6 months now and I love it.
The camera is either awesome or bad... all luck of the draw. Check Howardforums for the E815 pic of the day thread. You will see what I mean.

Positives:
Great reception
Good Speakerphone
Great Camera (if you get a good one)
Bluetooth
MP3
Awesome Screen
Customization (tons of hacks, like free PIX Place sending to your own server, free WAP, unlock bluetooth, change skins, etc)

Bad:
Camera (If you get a bad one)
Vibrate sucks
Kind of bulky (but smaller than my old phone, so I didn't mind)

It's probably the best CMDA phone out right now. It's also a swiss army knife, because it does everything (and if it doesn't do what you want you can hack it to make sure it does 😉 ).

My favorite features are the built in MP3 player and bluetooth modem.

For all of you complaining about the camera, its better than the v710 camera by far. I took side by side pics (sorry, dont have them handy to put online) and the 815 blows the 710 away in picture quality.

i have an e815 and i like it. i get good reception almost everywhere and i live and work in a very rural area. there are a few places that it doesn't get signal or very low signal.

battery life is AWESOME! I've left it turned on over a weekend (friday evening to monday morning) and it barely used any of the battery. if i did that with my last phone it would have been dead or almost dead.

the screen is big and bright. sound is loud and clear.

its pretty easy to hack once you get all the tools and software to do it.

i go through verizon so i didn't get any games. you might be able to download some free ones once you hack it though.

I've had it for about six months and it's starting to squeak when I open/close it, and when I just hold it to talk. People told me the phones weren't built like LG's, and now I know they were 100% correct. My last LG lasted me 3 years with no problems, it was bult like a rock. I be surprised if this phone makes it another six months.

Get a WD40 pen and get rid of the squeak.

The "squeak" doesn't come from the hinges, it comes from the bottom section of the phone. It's probably a combination of the battery and the two plastic halves all rubbing together when I hold it. It's not so annoying that i can't use it, though it is an unwelcome feature, but I just don't have any faith in the phone lasting. If somebody was looking to get a phone to last them a long time, I would not recommend this at all. If somebody goes through 3 phones a year because they always need the latest and greatest, then by all means get it just to play with it, though I don't know how new this phone is anymore. My next phone will most likely be an LG at this point.
