Motorola E 2nd Gen is not seeing the SIM card, what to do?

Hi all,

So I received a new Motorola E 2nd Generation today and I activated online and plugged in the SIM card but the phone did not recognize it. I tried and tried and nothing was working. I can't call CSR because I do not have anything to call. I will have to wait until tomorrow to use the wired desktop phone at work to call for help.

Any suggestion/idea? TIA.

Try removing it from the slot, reinsert, and reboot. Try that a few times, clean the contacts on the SIM card with pure isopropyl alcohol and dry it, reinsert, reboot. If it still doesn't work, I'd try taking it to a carrier store or try putting the SIM card in another phone to rule out a malfunctioning slot in your E.

When I turn off my phone with airplane mode on and then turn it back on again it says it can't detect the SIM. I need to turn off airplane mode then restart the phone for it to detect the SIM again.
