Considering the brevity of the announcement, it's entirely possible that this was thrown together in response to Sprint's EVO news -- but who cares? The more Android 2.2, the better, right? No official word on other Droid variants -- most of which are likely going to see Froyo updates soon -- but we'll be keeping our ears firmly planted to the ground."

Awesome news (for those unrooted folks ) but I was hoping the Droid X would get it first seeing that I don't use my Droid 1 all that much anymore.

Still, vanilla Android does have it's benefits. Yay for MotoBlur...

you could just root your phone and have 2.2 right now, but yea this is sweet, should sure up all the mods running it as well into final versions

This is good news. I'm able to get a new phone on August 2nd, but this should hold me over for awhile.

The Droid and Nexus One don't have Blur so I don't know if they are including it for other phones.

I keep telling myself when I stop traveling for a bit I'll root my phone and have some fun. Sadly, haven't had time for that yet so for us stock people this is good news. ^_^

If your phone has Sense or Blur now, its official 2.2 update will still have it. I prefer Sense though...

Yeah, but most of that was just rumors with nothing to back it up. If you click my second link it's Verizon's official support page detailing the 2.2 update. A PDf is floating around that details changes as well.
