Motorola cable modem... is it faster hooked up to USB or to 3COM network card !?

I have it hooked up to the USB port now ... but I am thinking if I hooked it up to the network card it might mean less processing for the CPU (not sure about that ... just guessing)
What do you guys recommened !?
