I'm sick of all these people taking up the entire road in thier car,s trucks, and SUVs. If you drive a car everyday, I fvcking hate you. I hope somebody on a bike smashes out your windows and beats you to death with a bike lock.

How fvcking hard is it to move over two feet to the left and pass a bike? Did they make you five seconds later to work? Big deal, you spent 15 minutes waiting at stop lights without yelling or honking at anyone, what's the big fvcking deal about sitting behind a guy on a bike for 10 seconds?

Really, the first part of this post is sarcastic, but I was kinda annoyed after reading some of the responses in Argo's thread, where several of the members here seem to think that running over people on bikes with cars is funny. I've probably put about 150 miles on my bike in the last month riding around on the street. If there's a bike lane, I'll ride in it. If there's not, I'll ride on the right edge of the road. I only use up three or 4 feet of space over there. 99% of people are able to go around me just fine. I have never caused a car accident by forcing someone to move over a couple feet. However, every once in a while some asshole, like a few of the people posting in Argo's thread, seems to think that my presenece requires me to be honked at or yelled at or something else of that nature. What is it about a few of you in cars that makes it so hard for you to do what the other 99% of drivers seem to have absolutely no problem with? Are you that bad of drivers? Maybe someone should take your license away if moving three feet to the left is too challenging for you.

Kudos, I just thought about it, and I will never get mad at bikers again.
Note I never honked or anything like that, just thought angry thoughts.

@OP: Understood. Now I would appreciate it if bikers that use the street would obey traffic laws.

I have a funny video that would be appropriate in this post. The guy in a car opens his car door trying to hit a biker with it but instead he ends up falling out and gets run over by another car. I'd e-mail it to whoever volunteers to post it.

i don't have a problem with bikers although i think it would be funny to see a whole bunch of people walking in the street and bikers being stuck behind them having to go uncomfortably slow. ;)

Ouch, that sucks nobody deserves to die over a thing like that. But what he was going to do to that biker was pretty fvcked up in itself.

It goes both ways, like bikers who don't stop at stop signs or yield when they should.

Not all of them are like this, but if bikers want equal road treatment they should obey simple traffic rules as well.

I'm always courteous to bikers when I'm driving, people need to learn how to SHARE the road.

Ok, I promise to have 100% of cyclists obeying all traffic laws as soon as you get 100% of all motorists to obey traffic laws. This includes driving above the speed limit, and changing lanes/turning without signaling.

I don't think the percentage of cyclsits that regularly ignore certain rules is any higher than the percentage of drivers that do the same thing, they just tend to ignore different rules.

I'm not saying that it's OK that either group ignores the rules, I'm just saying you can't say that this is some cycling-specific problem.

i agree with the original post but im going to also have to say i hate bicyclists that don't follow the rules

like on campus here at CU people go flying across cross walks on bikes...
last year i saw a cop hit a person doing that...he got out checked to see if they were ok then wrote them 2 citations for doing it...its called a cross walk for a reason.

You mean the traffic laws that cars don't obey anyway?

I was starting to get on a soapbox about this but three lines later I realized it was pointless. Cars mostly suck, and so do most drivers. The End.

Use the sidewalk! Lucky for me, almost everyone rides on the sidewalk here (including myself) when they ride their bikes. I also ride my bike to school every day.

Read your traffic laws. That's illegal in most places, and it's dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians.

Plus it's less of an issue if a cyclist doesn't obey a rule.
I was going across a T-junction (with right of way) and a car decided to start to pull out, even though he clearly knew I was there, and I would get the the junction possibly as he pulled out (and consequently hit him).
Being the controlled person I am, I slowed down, and decided to break the rules by swerving behind him so I could make sure he wouldn't drive into me. Then I gave him the finger as he drove off (don't know if he saw).
Fvcking idiot car drivers who think they can do whatever they please just because it's a bicycle instead of a car should be shot.

I ride my bike to work often, but I have a path I can ride to work 90% of the way, no traffic at all :D
