To clarify the matter, this Amish practice is not an everyday thing, but as part of their Labor day festivities. The locals know and expect this practice from them. It's pretty messed up for the driver to drive around and pick a fight irresponsibly.

every labor day they throw tomatoes at cars??????? what kinda of f**ked up tradition is that?

a tradition that just got shot down.... ::rimshot::

i'm a horrible person :Q

LMAO!!

I go to a restaurant in Holmes county about once a month for some good ole Amish home cooking.

I have bought most of my home furniture from a store that sells Amish made furniture in nearby Sugarcreek.

They make good food and good furniture......but other than that....I'm not sure what the hell else they do.

They make really good sheds, too, around me. It's funny, they won't use electricity, but they will use gasoline generators to power their tools...hmm...

It's pretty dangerous when your driving and random items start flying all over your windshield. Let's say you just had a bad day now some asshat is putting your life in danger... Maybe it causes you to snap.

Sure, but I still don't pull a shotgun out. :disgust::disgust::disgust:

Just line up with the cornfield from whence the tomatoes originated, and rev it like you mean it. Five seconds later, drop the clutch, hit the horn, and turn your wipers on.

I blame this on the authorities for allowing such a thing to happen. No such yearly event should be allowed to exist and the cops should be sure it doesn't.

Keim was with about 10 other members of the Amish community, ages 15 to 23. The group told the sheriff's office they had been throwing tomatoes and firing paintball guns at passing vehicles.

1) paintball guns? Isnt it illegal to fire those at cars? How the hell do the amish get away with that? Ive had friends get in trouble with the police for doing that!

2) Why do they allow this? Its potentially fatal if you are driving see something flying at your car, and swerve in reaction.... that is F@#$ up

3) Call me a jerk, but 20+ year olds should know better than that....

I grew up in PA around the amish, and most were nice and respectable, but the late teen and early 20 yr olds all acted like they had a grudge against us. They would drive their buggies down the center of the road like madmen, and almost force people off the road. Then you'd see them in town, piling out of a big van, with some non amish person driving..

Long story short, the Amish lifestyle is pretty much constantly spent trying to find loopholes 🙂 some will take a motor out of a tractor and hook it to their wagon, but they wont use the tractor.

There is an old joke that somehow is eerily similar to this incident:

Q: What goes "Clop Clop, Bang, Clop Clop, Bang"?

A: A Driveby shooting in Amish country

yeah, shoudn't be vandalizing, pick the wrong guy, and you wind up dead, but i geuss they learned that the hard way eh?

I dont know what they like to do in India, but in America, if you f*ck with my car, Im gonna put a cap in your ass.

What are you talking about?😕

All the Amish around here drive cars and trucks (always black). I think they have electricity, too. They raise llamas and ostriches and other weird animals. They must be a different type of Amish, though, because I've seen them in horse drawn buggies in northeastern Iowa.

Uhh why did the dude drive by a bunch of times? That just doesn't make sense. If someone pisses you off you don't go back for more unless you want to cause something.

Maybe he was delivering something? Or going somewhere and then back. After he got hit the third time he stopped.

Just a theory.

I would have a drive by veg/fruit pelting back at them! But a shotgun....damn extreme....but should these Amish kids been paintballing cars in the first place....this reminds me of that kid who got mauled by a dog after shooting it with a BB gun or something....some people get harsh reprocutions (sp?) for their foolish actions...

Remember Damian "Football" Williams? He was acquitted of attempted murder, because "He had been caught up in the outrage over the acquittal of four LAPD officers in the videotaped beating of Rodney King."

Hey, looks like other people can be "caught up in the outrage", too! Gonna have to just let this slide, I guess...
