Everyday on my 405 commute there are at least 3-4 cyclists swiped or hit by cars and the freeway gets shut down until they can clear the person out of the road..

I like your wording...

Every day? I find that hard to believe...
3-4 day? okay, whatever you say. lol.
Motorcycles are just tooooo dangerous, especially around cars. Too many opportunities to get real hurt, real fast, often with little you can do about it. I remember once a small utility pole had fallen in the road at night, and you couldn't see it until you were right up to it. A car would have gotten a nasty bump as it went over it, but a motorcyclist crashed. Same thing with so many other hazards like oil, potholes, inattentive drivers...just no safety margin, and not enough control over the situation.

This. I drove the 405 everyday for 3 years and I saw maybe one motorcycle accident.

Still, it's silly to be commuting in heavy traffic on a bike. A car is a steel cage you sit in -- that fits well with being in traffic. Bikes, OTOH, are for riding.
"Motorcycle" and "highway" do not fit together except in short bursts or for travelling between scenic rides.
I ride the 5 freeway in San Diego 2-3 days a week in rush hour traffic. I've seen exactly 2 motorcycle accidents in the last year.
probably because you don't see the other accidents.. they are so brutal they just vacuum up the debris and spray down the road lol
