I'm going to be buying a bike soon, and I'm looking into how much insurance is going to cost me. So far I have quotes from Geico and Progressive. Wonder what you guys have so I can get a quote.

Thanks for the site. So far they're the clear winner in quotes.

If they'll take you, State Farm will probably have the best rates. Call your local agent.

Awesome. If anything happens, President Palmer will be on my side.

progressive ~$40 a month for plpd and comprehensive. If you want full coverage, go with state farm, their rates are awesome. My buddy (21 y/o) has his '03 gixxer6 fully covered for ~60something a month

Progressive gave me the best price last time around.. I'm just getting ready to shop for a new policy now because mine comes up in July.

When I had my bike (Ninja type) I went through Progressive. Lots of places charge you up the @ss if you have a sport bike.

geico is the best way way lower than progressive...
cheapest way to do it though is put your bike on with the same carrier you have for car, homeowners etc.. you can usually get a better deal that way.

In California McGraw gave me the best rates.

It really depends on where you live, your age and driving record and how the insurance company in question rates bikes. Some go straight CC, so a GSXR600 would be cheaper than an SV650 despite the fact it has nearly twice the horsepower. Others rate by model, and will charge you an arm and a leg for a supersport (like the GSXR600) and hardly anything for a sport twin (SV650).

Your best bet is to just call every company that insures in your area and get quotes. It sucks having to make so many calls, but it is generally worth it. Also online quotes are almost always higher than talking to an agent as a rule.

I use Progressive in Calif, pay like $28 a month or something, full coverage + gear and accessories covered.
