i was flipping thru channels when i saw motocycle racing, and it was raining.

i thought to myself that alot the field will get wiped out.

yup.. some riders were being agressive, their motocycle lost traction on the wet track, and they sometimes took out a few other riders as well. (you try braking hard on a wet road when doing 100+ mph to avoid the fallen cyclist and see if your cycle stays upright.)

1 guy slid a few hundred feet with the cycle pinned on top of his leg. ouch...

Motocycle racing in the rain is a disaster waiting to happen.

Where is the common sense?!

Because they aren't Nascar pvssies. Formula One is like that too. They race rain or shine, it doesn't matter. It makes the race that much harder and take that much more skill.

motorcycles tend to do better in the rain than cars because the thinner tires need to wick away less water, BUT the penalties if they do lose traction are much higher.

CCS/CMRA/AMA makes us race in the rain as well.. if the track is judged safe and not too oily a good set of rainslicks do the job...
its really not that bad...

we have very few wrecks per race weekend usually not related to the weather..

with good tires (brand new rain slicks) and a clean non oily track its really not as bad as you think just a little less traction.. not the huge amount you would think.
