Motorcycle owners: How much protective gear do you buy for passengers?

I completely understand the need to buy helmet, gloves, boots, pants, etc for yourself. It seems like if you ever planned on having passengers then they should enjoy the same protection. Do you buy any protective gear for passengers as well? I don't own a motorcycle, but I would probably buy a second helmet at least. Or do you just never have passengers on your bike?

I am uncomfortable with having a person on my bike with me unless they have the same amount of gear I do, I'm going to buy my GF a whole riding set of gear even though she will probably hardly ever get on it with me. People get too reckless with bikes nowadays.

any passenger on my bike wears... helmet.. gloves.. boots..a riding jacket.. and at the very least blue jeans.. perferably dragging jeans or leather...

so yes a full set of gear for a passenger is mandatory..

I don't carry passengers, so I don't buy gear for them. This may change as I get more comfortable on the bike. I think I have insurance for passengers on my bike, but I'm probably going to cancel that coverage when I call to have coverage reduced since I've got it stored now.

I'm going to buy a Shoei helmet as soon as I can afford it, at which time my Icon helmet will be reserved for passenger use if I ever want to carry them. It's not really feasible to buy a set of gear for any possible passengers, so anyone who'd want to ride on my bike would be expected to provide their own jacket/pants.

Over the years I've accumulated extra stuff, for different riding seasons and riding preferences, so I always have something a little extra laying around if I need to take a passenger. If you are into gear you'll probably end up the same. Passenger should bring their own sturdy footwear. Jackets and gloves are easy to fit to people, the only other problem is a spare helmet.

Some people have tiny heads (especially girls or kids), so if I was going to buy anything special, it'd be a size medium or small helmet. Helmets are cheap, you can find DOT/Snell approved helmets for 100 bucks all over the place.

Full gear. I keep an extras set in the garage. If you don't want to wear it, you don't ride. Having full gear has saved me/riding partners from a couple of pretty nasty spills.

Small helmet, extra small jacket, small overpants, leather racing gloves, touring boots and a set of compression thermals.

You don't ride with me unless you're protected, and the sizes make it easier to reject the fat ones. Sorry, you can't fit in the helmet, its the law.

NO ONE should pack a pillion in thier first full year of riding....NEVER!

After a year's riding the answer to your question will be apparent.

Rear damper/s that are adjustable for load as well as damping are a must for spirited
riding with a pillion that is experienced as such.
Full gear is a must. Thier own bike comes sooner than later. :D
Once a passenger starts riding, thier happy pillion days are over.....I know ;)
