A buddy and I were talking about the new R8 yesterday. I like the old one a lot more. The new one looks too much like a TT with the straight headlights instead of the tear drop.
 
I'm the opposite. The 2nd gen is drastically better looking. The lines are sharper and more pronounced, not to mention an updated interior (which was 10 years old!!!!)

I'm torn...I agree that it's derivative of the TT but I never thought the prev gen was a great looking car. My BIL will be taking delivery of his '16 soon (he previously had a '13 and a '14) so maybe it will look more distinctive in person.
 
Sounds like a great everyday supercar competing against things like the 911 Turbo and R8. Less an occasionally thrill ride, more something you drive to work.

I'd have preferred something a bit more raw and cheaper - like a Cayman S competitor, but it certainly has a distinct niche.

This is what I dislike about these modern supercars or even high end sports cars now that are quiet, disconnected and AWD.

You get to incredibly dangerous speeds where you're likely to kill yourself or someone else, get arrested and be an absolute menace to society, but you get less of the thrills you'd get from much slower cars.
 
Needs an aftermarket exhaust to pump up the audible. A blacked out beak to tone down the ugly chrome beak visual would help as well. Gotta reduce msrp by $25k otherwise there are a couple nicer choices.

Hitting the speed governor (105mph) on old all-seasons in a 98 Cavalier driving in a snowstorm from IA -> MN, now THAT'S a good time! 😀

That's pretty true about newer cars in general. I just upgraded from an '05 Neon SRT-4 to a 2016 Honda Accord V6 auto and the car is so much more calm and smooth I find myself speeding more than I use to because you don't feel like you're going that fast.

In some ways, I do agree with them, but part of me would say "if I have the money for it, sure I'll buy one just to sit in traffic".

It's amazing what drone cameras have done for video production quality. Shots that were previously imaginable but physically impossible (and only showed up on video games like Gran Turismo) are now done on a regular basis. "Helicopter" shots starting off inches above the ground. "Boom" shots on a 100-foot boom. Incredible.
