I use it because my Jeep engine of 260,000 is shot. I also use 15W-40 and it still consumes oil at an 80:1 ratio.

Do you find the increase in shear rating reduces (oil) consumption and smoking too?
 
It worked out for a short period, maybe 30000 miles or about a year. Not a permanent solution though. In that timeframe it did reduce the smoking.
 
Well yes additives are no sub for mechanical deficiencies despite what infomercials say. 🙂
