I have really enjoyed my Moto X. Great battery life, love the Active Display and Touchless controls, it really is a nice phone. Probably the "smartest" smartphone I've ever had (especially combined with Google Now), but I miss the big screens and so my next phone will be a One+.

I do think this is going to be the Moto E though, which is the successor to the G, instead of the X2.

It is more than likely the E. If you look at the quote on the invite, it says "at a price everyone can afford." Unless they're going the Nexus route with cheap price and high specs.

Hopefully they learned their lesson. It's better to price it right out of the gate and ride the momentum rather than price it high and later discount it after disappointing sales. People can smell desperation.

If the Moto X has good battery life, I shudder at what bad battery life is. My Moto X has the worst battery life of all of my devices. It barely lasts a day.

Why release the E when the G is not that old at all?

I wouldn't doubt if they intend to have distinct markets.
E, G, and X.

G might not be too old, and the new E might slightly outpace the current G. But I'd expect either this device to be a G-2 or the E - and later in the summer/fall see the release of the X-2 - and this time make it more obvious of a grab for "flagship market share."

How many hours of screen-on time do you get in a day?

Heavy user and/or weak signal? Weak signal and Verizon, perhaps?

My Moto X, with heavy usage (gym days - streaming + bluetooth), can sometimes barely make it through a day. But heavy usage, especially with weaker signal, means the radios work harder at achieving signal lock and/or spend a lot of time searching for signal.

When I'm at drill, in a thick brick building that I swear is a perfect antenna buster, I need to worry about charging the device more than I'd like.
But it's leagues better than any other phone I've owned in the same situation - which none have had massive batteries, like 3000mAh or the like. Some phones these days are carrying massive batteries to compensate.

What were your other devices? It has worse battery life than my Razr Maxx but like 2x the battery life of the Galaxy Nexus

Moto X>G>E, nothing is replacing nothing yet, just expanding the products range.

I guess that depends on what your other devices are, but mine lasts me a day and a half of normal usage, 2 days on light. This is compared to one day with the S4 and last year's One with the same type of usage.
