After looking at some other benchmarks, it's surprising that the Moto G outperforms the Nexus 4 in Antutu. CPU benchmarks like Geekbench have the N4 way ahead, same with GPU benchmarks like 3DMark. Wonder what's giving the Moto G the edge in Antutu.

Here are some additional benchmarks:

google for the moto x dalvik patch.
they have some nice optimizations going on that the rest of android doesn't have.

So the Moto G is slightly more powerful than the Galaxy S3.

Not really that impressive even for a budget phone.

What makes you think that Motorola would put stock dalvik on the Moto G if they have the patched one?
I think the one on the Moto G is already optimized, the Nexus ones are not.

What other $100 phone with a warranty are you comparing with? Or less politely, what crack are you smoking?

I think that's his point. The Moto G likely has an optimized dalvik just as the X does.

Unless I'm missing something thats exactly what that table showed. That the Moto G is roughly equivalent to an S3 in performance.

Sighs*
Its not the fact that it's the same performance as an S3, so yeah you are missing something.
Its the fact that he is claiming he isn't impressed with the performance. I would like to see a phone equivalent in price to the Moto G that is more impressive. Yeah there's fricking none!

Bought one today. Was giving WP8 a try for a couple months, but missed Android. This phone fit the budget at just over $200 all in unlocked and new.

According to the benchmarks, isn't my assessment correct?

Pretty sure those responses were to the 2nd part of your post. Could you tell us how a budget phone should perform then? If not roughly an S3, then what, at S4 levels?
