Why is it that when business is extremely busy, I easily ramp myself up, take care of work, and still have the motivation left to take care of other things around the house, new projects, etc...

But when business slows, and I actually have all this free time to get things done, my motivation sinks.
 
Same problem here... I support sales people and they are all gone to summer conference. Should be doing a lot of school stuff but I just want to stare at my monitor.
 
It's the same here with university assignments and all.

I guess it's just that, even if you don't like it, people work more effectively in a "stressy" condition.
