god damn windows update. Friend came by with a IBM Thinkpad T40p, telling me that the system just hangs sometimes. I thought no problem, sure I can fix that. The notebook is about 3 weeks old and he said since 2 weeks he has those problems(can't playback DVD correctly, sound stutters, etc.). He has Norton Anti Virus installed and there was no virus found. He told me he updates the anti vir definition every day. So I checked Windows Update. 4 updates available: 1 Intel Driver update, 1 IBM update, 1 ATI video card driver update and one other which I can't remember at the moment. After installing the updates, we rebooted the machine. During the start-screen, the display "build-up" was really slow, you could see how the color changes and stuff. In Windows while draging the windows, it also stuttered so I thought cool, SWEET DRIVER UPDATE YOU GAVE ME WINDOWS UPDATE. I remembered there was "System Restore feature" in WinXP, why not just restore the system? Tried that and it just exited with an error message how it just can't go back to the previous point and if Windows should try the restore again.
1. What kinda UPDATE is that which breaks your video display?
2. What up with that stupid System restore?
I can understand why users don't want to use AUTOMATIC UPDATE. God damn stupid Windows.
