Motherboards with AGP

I've got an All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro video card and I'm building a new dual-core system with the AMD 64 X2 3800+ processor. The problem is, all motherboards I'm seeing now only have PCI express and no agp and my 9800 is agp. Any thoughts? Am I screwed? I think I am. Thanks.

I'm kinda lazy today. Do a search on this forum or with Google and you'll find some socket 939 mobo's with both AGP & PCIe slots.

i would say the best agp motherboard is the msi k8n neo2 platinum. but, ASRock has some boards that are both PCIe and AGP. go to their site and check it out. it will come in handy when you want to upgrade your card.
 
You really shouldnt starve that X2 with a 9800pro... but as stated above, ASROCK makes a solid board that is AGP and PCI-E.
 
I have an Asus a8v deluxe which runs perfect with my X2 and x800. I've never had an issue with it. Look for the latest revision which I think is rev 1.2.
 
The Asrock Dual SATA II is a very good board. Mine is running a 6800GT AGP and a 7800GT right now, both at full performance, just great.
 
You definately are better off getting a new video card though...even if you don't need it, at least get some 200 dollar budget PCI-e card so you're more up-to-date and upgrading won't be such a hassle.

Why, when he can get best of both worlds for cheap and with a good board even for high OCs? 😉
 
My vote is for the Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 as well, I have owned mine for a few months now and it works perfectly with good performance.
 
I'm still using AGP for awhile longer because my 6800GT is still doing fine in games I play, but if I had a 9800 Pro as my primary GPU I'd be upgrading to PCI-E now.
 
No one has really asked him what he uses his computer for?

If he's not a gamer, he doesn't need a new video card?

no, the latest revision is 2.00. anything that isnt 2.00 cant overclock at all because it doesnt have a pci lock. i have this board, and its very good, but i think the msi is a lot better.
 
I agree, unless you can't afford it right now (and you may not be able to), it's probably time to upgrade from the 9800 Pro anyway. You can get something pretty decent like a 7800GT for around $300, or maybe a 6800GS for closer to $200. If you can't or don't want to spend the money for a new video card right now (understandably so, since the price for a "good" video card just seems to be climbing with each passing year), then the ASRock AGP/PCI-E board is a good choice. You could also get a nForce3 motherboard with AGP, but I think I'd still go for the ASRock since it has an upgrade path for PCI-E cards in the future whenever you're ready. I have a (very) long thread about this board in the motherboards forum, here, you might want to skim over it to look at other people's experiences. Mine has been very good (using an Opteron 170 and AGP 6800GT right now), but a few have run into some driver/other issues.
