model of board/processor/video/memory might help some of the chaps on these boards. heck throw in the PSU model and wattage too. PSU might be going bad, or processor could be bad/going bad. its hard to tell jsut from those symptoms. the only SURE FIRE way to check is to start swapping parts out for known good ones to eliminate all possible issues

Ddefinitely throw down as much info as you can... sounds to me like a motherboard issue. The components that get power directly from the PSU leads are working fine but everything else is dead in the water? Actually you said your cpu fan spins. hmm.

Make sure your ATX power connector is plugged firmly into your mobo... check all your connections. Last resort is to try what Paperlantern suggested which is to remove everything except for the processor and heatsink/fan, video card, and ram. Just try to get it to post, and if it doesn't, you know your problem lies in your base config - ie. mobo/cpu/ram/video/power supply. Then by swapping those out one by one with working parts you may or may not have, you can narrow down your problem. But for now lets get some more info so we can better assist! :)

not really, unless you yave a voltmeter handy, but it sounds liek you have more than one stick of ram, based on the fact that most often only 1 stick will go bad out of a group, try pulling all but one out and booting, then rotate till all have been tried 1 at a time, if still no dice then you can say with 99% certainty its not the RAM. That board doesnt have onboard video so it cant be that the agp got disabled or anything goofy. my next step would be to try another known good power supply, then move to video, then CPU... but that can be difficult without spares just laying around. you can also try clearing the CMOS by removing power to the computer, yanking the battery and moving the clear cmos jumper to the clear position for about 15 seconds, then returning it, plugging it all back in after about 10 minutes and giving it another go... i dont know man its hard to tell without spare parts

I was wondering if my cpu is dead.... could the symptons i have be because of that ?

(Since power is being run through the motherboard.... but no ports on the mother board work.)

It could be power-supply overload too. What exact brand and model of power supply do you have? The label on the side of the power supply will say, if you don't remember right off the top of your head.

well i have tried 2 different power supplys... and a different motherboard..... so i think its the cpu is dead. anybody have anyother ideas ?? I pretty much went through everything..... so i think all thats left is the cpu.

What brands and models were each of the two power supplies? If neither one can shoulder the load, then that's not necessarily relevant.

Bigger picture: K7S5A is a pretty old motherboard. Mine died at random about a year ago. Could be mobo failure too.
