motherboards not configured correctly for i7-4790K

This is a bit puzzling to me but according to this thread many motherboards (as of dec 2014) are not configured correctly for I7-4790K:

I guess my question is how common is this issue and I'm having havoc trying to correct my motherboard since the voltage configuration is 1.9 and intel sez it should be 1.0 but it doesn't get close to booting unless the voltage is closer to 1.5 (I have an I7-4790K which starts out at 50C (no load) and jumps to 100C max load (prime 95 8 threads). At first I thought it was a fan problem but the above thread makes me suspect someone goofed in the communication with motherboard makers. Sounds like they lowered the wattage but failed to communicate it to the bios/mb folks.

What the heck? And I just upgraded from 4770K to 4790K. I'll have to do some stress testing to see if this affects me. Kind of crappy for those who get such high temps.

I am about to purchase an i-4790k, is anyone else here having this issue?

Not I, but I've been watching this develop as people talked about their thermals with the 4790K. The hits jus' keep on comin'!! What new news lurks around the corner?! If there is actually a BIOS fix, how much does it fix it?

Amazing. Just amazing . . .

Well for me personally it turns out the bios was ok (i measured this via using the intel xlt tool which shows the chip wattage draw. I still have to under volt slightly to keep the temp below 90c when full load (mprime). Reading the threads @ intel and elsewhere it sounds like I have a 'good' chip; as many of them are running 95c/100c even at 88 watts (this is different from the problem with motherboard with bad settings). I'm going to start a thread with regards to the thermal issue to see if others are having the same temp issue (here).

could be wrong but why would anyone use a non bios tool for monitoring ,other than core temps and real temps that have been vetted by millions of peeps to be reference.
imo I would not use a intel program [or forums] on a non intel motherboard .

I'm not experiencing this issue, it seems to run well within range and stays at turbo of 4.2GHz with all cores loaded. I'm running stock with an Asus Z97 Pro motherboard currently.
