I will be building a computer in about 2 weeks, and I have some general questions about how AM2 is coming along.

DISCLAIMER: I AM BUILDING THE SYSTEM ON SOCKET AM2 IN 3 WEEKS, NO CONROE (unless something gets in the way)

How are motherboards looking for Socket AM2? When configuring my Socket 939 build, I always used the Asus A8R32-MVP. Which motherboard for ATi Xpress 3200 should I use for AM2: the sequel to the Asus A8R32-MVP or the sequel to the DFI CFX3200-DR? My personal preference is Asus, as I've used their motherboards in all the computers I've built, but I'm open to DFI if that's clearly better. And what's going on in nVidia-land with the nForce5 chipset?

Abit has a full line of KN9 & AN9 models (all nF5)
The AT9 models look as if they will be held up by ATi SB600 availability.
Don't know anout VIA chipset mobos.

soydios,

You're a little bit too early for the big wave of AM2 mobos.

If you can wait a few months, they'll be available for sale later this year.

Asrock will also be releasing AM2 motherboards such as the Asock AM2NF4G-SATA2 AM2 although I am sure they will release others as well!

May 23rd ASUS wil release the M2R32-MVP deluxe which will be the high end ATi Board. Personally im building a rig at the end of the month as well but its def gonna be s939 since am2 will be higher priced for same performance.
