My Shuttle ST62K has one PCI slot and that's it. It has no other slots. The motherboard has a built in ATI Radeon 9100 IGP. I also have a PCI x1550. Which one is better? The motherboard's built in ATI Radeon 9100 IGP or the PCI x1550?

I don't want to sound smartass or anything, but maybe you should put that pci 1550 in, and try to benchmark it? since you have both, might as well test it.

Oh, you're not being a smartass. I should test each, but I'd have to install Windows first. Are there any free programs I should use to test them?

I did ask on other forums and they also said that the PCI x1550 would be better than my onboard Radeon 9100.

I only replied again because aoe3 thought it was a PCIe x1550.

The Radeon X1550 is just a slighly underclocked X1300PRO but considerably faster than the X1300 vanilla. It's gonna be faster than any integrated card.

use 3dmark 2001, aquamark 3, 3dmark 05 if you have the time to download :p I still predict 1550 wins, even regular pci

IIRC the 9100 is simply an old Radeon 8500 that has been intergrated into the chipset, an X1550 even it is PCI will leave it for dead.

The X1550 will be much faster, but neither one is really suitable for gaming.

It's an older system so I don't do much gaming on it. Also, the LCD I'm using with it is a 15" BenQ.

Another question regarding this. Since it's a PCI video card, do I need to install the GART drivers for the motherboard?

The PCI X1550 will perform better in games (and a little in overall performance) but using the integrated graphics is simpler and will keep the system running cooler and will use less power, which as always a good thing for SFF cases, and especially socket 478. The PCI X1550 will probably have DVI output, which is nice. The onboard video should still be plenty fast for all non-3D applications.
