motherboards-64bit

Does anyone know if the motherboards we've got now will support the new pentium 64bit chips that will come out later? Or will we need to get new motherboards? This applies to AMD chips as well.
I'm thinking of buying a ASUS P4C800 Deluxe and would like to know if i can stick a 64bit chip on it in the future.
Thanks!

no, you might be able to put in a 3.4 GHz prescott someday if the motherboard revision is new enough, but after that the socket is changing again.

There is no way to know, Intel still denies the existance of such a cpu. It would be quite ironic though if their 64bit x86 cpu was compatible with AMDs' chipsets though! I don't think any chipset/mobo available would work with such a cpu though, Intel likes releasing new chipsets! 😉
