Motherboard?

I posted this under video cards and didn't receive a response so I'll be brief.

My Creative Anihiliator video card fritzed out. There is a black burn spot on a small section where the board enters the AGP slot.
There is also a visible residue in the AGP slot itself.

Question? Could the motherboard possibly be at fault?
I will be getting a new agp card in the next week or so but I am just a little concerned that if the problem lies with the board I may end up with another $300 paper weight.
This is a fairly new motherboard that I have already had to rma (for other reasons) and a video card that I have had for the past 8 months with no problems.
The motherboard is the CUSL2.

Any responses, emails, faxes, letters, smoke signals, morse code, would be much appreciated.

I can't be the only unlucky soul that this has happened to.

Thanking you muchly.
