I have trouble understanding why 2500k isn't on there. I know it's old by tech standards, but..pfft, it is hardly destitute.

Probably because the 6600k is faster for about $80 less and it's current gen.

Going after a cpu 2 generations behind hurts the rest of your computer also as then you have to get a older motherboard and so on.

In most cases, your motherboard choice will matter based upon pricing and features. For example, if you have a lot of USB devices, you may want to get a board with a lot of USB ports. If you want USB 3.1, you will want to get a board that has it built-in. (Note, this isn't part of Intel's ICH yet, so it's provided by third-party chips.) A decent entry-level H110 or Z170 board will probably cost around $125, and that includes features like m.2 and USB 3.1 Type-C.

LOL - that's what I'm thinking.

But then it makes sense. ;)

I have a hard time suggesting getting a new computer with the price of graphic cards about to drop due to pascal coming out soon as both sides current gen prices should drop nicely over a bit of time.
