Hello,

Brothers computer all of a sudden turned off and turned back on, then off again for good. When you press the power button, CPU fan spins once, then stops. Replaced power supply, same. Put old one back in, remounted motherboard, press power button, and the CPU fan spins once, stops, spins again, stops, repeat. I took the motherboard out of the case, laid it on a plastic table hooked to the PSU, and it still did the same thing.

Busted motherboard?

Now, this is an ECS mobo in an emachines computer. I read ECS mobo have a 3 year warranty. Could I get away with RMA'ing this motherboard to them for a replacement?

Heya,

You tried another PSU and it still didn't power on; RMA the sucker.

Very best, :)

Since you bought it as part of a name-brand OEM computer, then the mobo does not have a seperate warranty with ECS. You would have to go through Emachines. Which, I think, only has a one year warranty.

Good luck.
