I want to put a system together that has an AGP slot and IDE. What were some of the better MoBos before PCIe and SATA came out? Thanks for your reply.

ABIT NF7 and NF7-S for AMD and IDE gets my vote. Mine is only a year old but it's as solid as it was on day one.

If you are going AMD Athlon XP (nice, cheap and well built), then I suggest the Chaintech 7NJL6. It's still available, new, at newegg for about $53. Link Here

Not only will this support older CPUz, such at athlons and even durons, but it will also support some of the highest end Athlon XP processors (making it a decent choice for affordability and upgradablility).

It will also support a VAST line of RAM, including pc2100, pc2700, pc3200+. THAT also counts, as RAM can get quite costly.

The Chaintech board I suggest here also takes AGP 8x and has several PCI ports. This board has EIDA, RAID, Serial ATA and more! Good buy for the buck!....AND it's VERY modifiable.

This board will also do OC'ing (OverClocking) rather easily (however limited here) by simply adjusting the FSB up. I turned my 1.47 GHz into a 1.833 GHz in SECONDS (after I realized what I was doing wrong) with this board. This is a high enough OC fer me! I'm DEFINITELY a happy camper!
