Hi I am in deep trouble and pls help
I fried my chip last week and finally manage to get hold of a new athlon xp 1500 today
my motherboard is Asus A7M266
after i installed this new cpu..I tried to bootup my computer to test it..I got a couple of long beeping sound ..which i reckon the rem is not attached properly(i did not touched the ram from teh day i fried mycpu till now)
anyway..i took out both my crucical rams and reinstalled just one chip..this time..there was no beeping sounds..i hear the hd moving..all fans are working..but i get no post from my monitor
I tried installing both ram this time and i get a burning smell..instantly..i switch off the computer... sigh...
Is this the sign that my motherboard is fried too..from my event last week that a fan wire had gone in between my hsf and cpu..thus toasting my chip as there was no full contact btw the core and the hsf..there are no known burn marks in my motherboard.
