Motherboard/video card problem

My X800XL card has lately started to have regular failures, so I decided to upgrade and bought a Sapphire X1950PRO and didn't realize that it wouldn't fit on my motherboard (epox EP 9NPA+ Ultra) because of it's additional length - it runs into the IDE connectors.
So, my question is, is it worth upgrading the motherboard, or should I return the graphics card and buy something with less oomph. If possible and reasonable, I'd like to upgrade, I just don't know what's worth upgrading to.
