Motherboard upgrade question! Can anyone help?

I am going to be getting a Gateway OEM Mobo with the intel 440BX chipset. i would like to upgrade my current PII-266 system's mtoherboard, but without having to re-install anything. It there a way I could just switch out the boards, and that would be it?

You could just switch the boards. You don't *have* to re-install Windows. It will just not shut down, won't install and PCI cards, ect. Re-install if you can.

Remove all the devices from device manager, shut down computer, install new motherboard, reboot, windows will recognise the new devices. Hope for the best! Good luck🙂
