Motherboard Temps, is it too hot?

I have installed my new ASUS MB and have been using the ASUS probe to montior some of the systems. Looking at the Motherboard Temp reading, it seems to be sitting at 43-46 Deg celsius (at normal times and when under load (playing 3D games)). Is that temperature considered to be too high? should I be worried about it?

My CPU temp sits at 46-47 under load and 40 and maybe under for idling (cooler then my MB apparently!!).

It is spring over here at the moment so I am thinking these temps might increase a bit during the summer.

Also if I were to change the PSU from 350W to 430W, would that increase the temps? and by how much?

What are the case temperatures with the case panels off? You may just have very bad air circulation, but I don't think it should be that high. Have you tried different motherboard monitor programs like Motherboard Monitor or MBProbe? The power supply change probably won't have any impact on your temperatures, it might make them a little lower since the 350W+ units have dual fans.

Sounds like you need more exhaust fans. If your mobo is running just a few degrees lower than your CPU, you might want to add some fans. I take it you have plenty going in, and you don't want more air in there to heat it up more. An upgrade of a PSU will not effect your temp unless you get one with an additional fan.

DusterAZ: Strangely enough with the left side panel of the case off, the temperature is pretty much the same. Currently running prime 95 and maxing out my CPU.

CPU Temp: 54C (I think it hit 56-57 when I came out of a 3D game)
MB Temp: 46C (This is pretty much the highest it has gone even after playing a 3D game)

AkumaBao: I only have a CPU fan and PSU Fan. I have no exhaust fans running in the case.

Ok update on temps...

After running Prime 95 for awhile (about 2hrs straight) and using ASUS probe to monitor the temps...

CPU seems to max out at around 57C and
MB now seems to max out at around 50C

I did have intentions of overclocking my CPU from 2.4 up to maybe 2.7 but those temperatures are scaring me (the MB one especially)

Also how is it possible that around idle my MB is hotter then my CPU?

Currently just posting in this forum and doing nothing else and my CPU temp has dropped to 43C and MB down to 46C?

Circulation in the case seems(?) fine, even with a side panel removed the temps are still around there.

Actually, having the side panel off of your case is not as good for the temps. inside your case as having strategically placed exhaust fans. With my Antec SX840 case I notice higher ambient (mobo) temp. readings than when I have the case closed up properly. Get some case fans installed and see how that does.
