I am still running my PIII 500 Pentium and it works fine but my question is as I look to upgrade, to
a P4, is I am looking for a motherboard that does not have on board audio video and what ever else.
What are your suggestions? what fsb should I consider and what ram is recommended. I do get confuse over the various choices and no this will not be a gaming machine!.

If yu are doing a P4 setup go with the Abit AI7 motherboard. Cost less then $124 at newegg.com and has very good ethernet, sound, SATA, etc...
For a CPU get a 800Mhz FSB 2.4ghz or 2.6Ghz P4. That will give you HT and will be a great bang for your buck as far as P4's systems go.

Ram get PC3200 or faster. Geil, corsair, muskin, etc... are some good ones. Get 2 slabs so you can run Dual Ch memory. The P4 HAS to have Dual Ch memory to work well.

hey man your suggestions are good, but i'm going to be honest here.. GEIL is total garbabe just like OCZ. I wouldn't touch that crap with a 1000000 foot pole.. it's trash, I've had it before, and man was that a mistake.... get quality RAM like Kingston, Corsair, Crucial....

sorry carry on :D
