Motherboard suggestions for Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor?

Hi - looking to upgrade motherboard, CPU and graphics card so that I can do some video editing using Adobe Premiere CS3.

I'd like something mid-range in price and have my eye on the Q9550.

As far as graphics cards go, Premiere seems to like nVidia so my current thinking is the GTS 250 PCI-e 512MB.

Please can someone suggest a good motherboard to complement these two?

I had thought that I couldn't use a non-SLI enabled motherboard but is it correct to say that as long as the motherboard is Intel P45, I can use a single nVidia card with no compatibility issues?

(In that case, the Asus P5Q Deluxe would be around the right price range - £120 + VAT)

They look good.

They use DDR3 memory. Does that mean installing 6GB RAMinstead of 4GB?

The Gigabyte chipset is Intel P45 Express - don't know the difference between that and Intel P45.

One minor disadvantage: Gigabyte hasn't got eSATA like the Asus P5Q Deluxe but I could probably live without that.

Uses DDR2. 4 slots, you can fill with 2GB sticks for 8GB no problem. It's just "Intel P45" chipset.

There is no eSATA port on the back panel, but you can run any of the SATA ports to a jack in your case if your case has one (like a front panel or something), or pickup a cheap PCI slot bracket. There are 6 SATA ports from the Intel ICH10R, and 2 additional ports provided by Gigabyte. I run a front panel eSATA from one of the Gigabyte ports.

Thanks guys.

The GA-EP45-UD3R looks an inexpensive alternative to the Asus P5Q Deluxe with a virtually identical spec!

Appreciate the help.

I bought the following today:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, Yorkfield Core, S775
Arctic Cool Freezer 7 Pro
Corsair Twin2X4096-8500C5D 2x2Gb DDR2

I'm only using this for video editing, not gaming, so overclocking isn't a priority.

Are there any good websites showing how to put it all together? This will be my first build.

What sort of power supply wattage will I need for the above items plus 5 SATA drives, DVD Writer and graphics card? My existing supply is only 450W.

Hey, was wondering how you build turned out. Starting a new build myself, and just picked up a q9550 adn was wondering how this Gigabyte board turned out for you.

I am going to go a different route and recommend the GA-X48-DS5. I have the almost identical GA-EX38-DS4. This board has been incredible. Overclocking my Q9550 to 3.8Ghz was incredibly easy. Don't worry about eSATA. Many of the Gigabyte boards come with an eSATA breakout cable. The advantage of the X38/X48 board is the ability to run two full bandwidth PCIe 2.0 x16 slots. If that is not important, then the P45 boards already suggested are great choices.
