Last night I bought a Athlon 64 X2 4800+ and eVGA GeForce 7800 GTX. I'm really on the fence about what motherbord to buy and have narrowed it down to the following:

Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi nForce4
Asus A8N-SLI Premium nForce4
DFI Lan Party NForce4

Now the problem; everyone one of these motherboards has issues that I've read about especially complaints with memory compatibility. I'm using Corsair Value select (512 meg modules) and it is on the approved list for the Asus board but that board can't use 4 Gigs of memory. I don't intend to overclock or if I do it won't be very much. System stability is most important to me. If I choose one of these boards what should I get and the bigger question is should I wait on the new A8N32-SLI Deluxe. Is there a scheduled release date for it? It appears it should be coming out any time now. Thanks for any suggestions.

if it was me id get the DFI...or better yet get an epox nforce4 ultra bored....they are known to overclock great and they are cheap. Oh i was reading your post again. If you don't intend on overclocking i would DEFINITLY get the epox.....or better yet an ASRock 939dual-sata2 (the board i current have). I have had very good system stability with the asrock board. People complain cause it didn't have as wide of voltage settings as does the nforce4 boards but if your not going to overclock very heavily than that shouldn't matter to you. The reason i went witht his board was the AGP availability plus future m2 upgrade slot. I wouldn't put that much into what you here people complaining about these boards on then net. 1) People usually only say something if they have a complaint. All the board you listed are high quality boards.

What do you mean that the Asus A8N-SLI Premium can't use 4gb's of memory? I was using 4x1gb Crucial Ballistix and a combination of 2x1gb Crucial Ballistix and 2x1gb Mushkin XP4000 w/out any issues.

Try to avoid DFI as they don't work with Corsair that well.
I guess the Asus Premium is a decent choice.
However, I still see no point of using 4GB memory since WinXP won't be able to utilize it anyway.

I only need to use 2 Mb of memory now but might want to add more later. Capt Caveman, the newsgroups and message boards are full of people who cannot use 4 Mb of memory with this motherboard. This is a known issue with Asus, maybe you just have the right combination that works for you. I think I'm going to wait for the new Asus board since it should be out withing the next couple weeks. Thanks for the suggestions.

No idea, and really don't see a reason for its existence either.
It would probably give unecessary heat and extra latency due to an extra south bridge.
