Hello, I'm going to be building a computer to run Fedora linux. I understand that this is such an open-ended question as many people have had different experiences with motherboards and some may have their own personal favs...However, I'm hoping that If I can supply a good deal of information about what I want to build someone can point me in the right direction.

These are the bare minimum needs..

1. Needs to be compatible with Linux.
2. Needs to have a fast enough bus to be able to be able to fully take advantage of current CPU Speeds.
3. I'm indifferent to on board video...As long as it works...This won't be a gaming computer. I just need to be able to see what I'm doing. I'd love to hear suggestions about video cards though.
4. ps2,usb,sata,pci support of course
5. Intel or AMD.......not sure..Would like some guidance here..
6. Support a minimum of 6GB of memory.

I think that's it...Suggestions would be great..

You didn't mention anything about your computation needs nor the budget. I use Ubuntu so i know this will work:

1. Intel E5200 basic, E7400 better, Q8000 / 9000 if you need quad core
2. Gigabyte EP45-UD3** board
3. 4 x DDR800 RAM
4. Geforce 8400GS / Radeon 3850 or similar low end

Check whether the bards have PS2 (which i find less and less on new boards)
This will work with Fedora like a charm. Since the board utilizes AHCI, i suggest Kernel 2.6 or later

Hi thanks for responding...Budget isn't an issue..I just don't want to get into overkill.
