Motherboard screws?

This is a very simple question. What's the right type of screw to use for mounting a motherboard?

I've always used big hexagonal-ish screws. The kind that looks like this. http://www.gen-x-pc.com/images/case_screw.jpg But now I'm starting to think that's not right...

and if that is the wrong type of screw and http://www.gen-x-pc.com/images/drive_screw.jpg is the right kind, then could anything get slightly shorted or otherwise screwed up due to using the other kind?

As long as the screw has the right threads (no cross threading or stipping), it really should not matter. But as far as I know, the 2nd link looks like most of the screws that I've used on motherboards. They typically screw into stand-offs screwed onto the plate (YMMV).
