I am buying a Asus p4p800, when i was looking around for prices I saw a segnificant price difference between two of the same mobo. One says it has Firewire, and the other says it has IEEE1394 concetivity. Isint it the same? Than why the 30 dollar increase?

And also, the mobo says its "Prescott ready", does that mean that Northwood is not compatible?

Thanks again

Thats why Tigerdirect is bad. Newegg has it for $111, but $0.99 shipping. Go for ZZF.
And no, it does not mean that it only uses Prescott.

The IEEE is a standards association, ergo 1394 refers to a particular standard accepted by industry at large. FireWire is a trade name of Apple Computer Inc for that standard. There are others such as i.Link, Lynx and SB1394.
