Motherboard Review Request Comments Welcome

Good Day.....

This is the first in a series of polls to assist us in chosing topics that our current readership would like to see in future articles. In this case, we are trying to determine which type of motherboard and price point is most popular with our readers. We will take the results from this poll or comments and further define another set of questions such as actual chipsets, form factors, suppliers, single board or roundup review, quick looks, and general features that our readership would like us to concentrate on in the near future.

We are in the process of working with the various manufacturers to ensure we have the right mix and type of boards for our summer/fall review schedule. We want you to be a part of this process so comments are very welcome. We will also be revising our benchmark suite before Core 2 Duo launch along with additional emphasis on m-ATX SFF and HTPC setups but more on that later.

In the meantime, please let us know what you think.

Sincerely,
🙂

I wouldn't mind some reviews on mATX boards. Every day, I wonder why I even bother with ATX mini towers. But not just HTPC type of SFF, but performance oriented SFF.

I voted high level enthusiest, but I would also love some more uATX/merom/core duo motherboard reviews for creating a low power HTPC and form factor PC's.

I was waiting to actually see a poll ... (weird 😕 1 has shown up now that I could't see earlier)

However, what would be of interest to me is what does the extra $ for a 590 board over a 570 really get you in the real world if you have yhalf a clue about overclocking manually anyway (so far it looks like something that sounds good in marketing but actually yields little) & then of course comparing to equivalent ATi/VIA etc, chipset boards.
I would guess that in tems of nos. most enthusiasts (as opposed to the mass matket) aim at the middle market (so preference to that area) then budget with the high end being relatively less popular.

mATX & quiet systems are certainly increasingly interesting areas as more & more gets integrated & improved.

I guess I'm most interested in the enthusiast level too. Though I say this while typing on a computer built around a $65 motherboard 😛 (and a damn good one at that 😉).

I've always liked the motherboard reviews here...keep up the good work 🙂

I would love to see reviews of such boards as this and this.. Basically, boards that are in this price range, offer good cooling, good performance and stability. Not really an overclocker so that is pretty much irrelevent. But boards that work well and are stable at a reasonable price.

I am testing the ASRock tonight, the Abit 570SLI is on its way although we will have a review of the Epox 570SLI later this week. 🙂

I voted performance level. Of course I'll be buying a 939 board now, and they've all been reviewed (the DFI LanParty Ultra-D is my current choice), but the performance level of pricing seems to be my choices. That way I can see what Conroe/AM2 boards are good in that range when I do decide to step up to Conroe/AM2. Thanks Gary!
