Hey everyone.

I received my ASUS P8Z77-V Pro MB DOA, and I sent it back to Newegg for a replacement. Turns out that when it got there, some CPU pins were bent (probably from shipping) and I can't get an RMA through ASUS for physical damage. My question is... would I get a replacement if I purchased the extended warranty from Newegg and used that service?

Here's the motherboard. The extended warranty is under "Protect your investment". http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131819

.
.
3. ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE FROM HANDLING (ADH).ADH pertains to You if listed on the reverse side of this Contract. Your Product is protected against accidental damage from handling. ADH will end prior to the expiration date when We have, as a result of service provided to You, replaced Your Product or incurred costs under this plan and all other coverage equal to the original purchase price of Your Product (as indicated on your invoice). ...
.
.
19. COVERAGE AND TERM. ... This Plan is secured by a contractual liability or reimbursement insurance policy provided by either Illinois National Insurance Company or New Hampshire Insurance Company Inc., 80 Pine Street, 13th Floor, New York, NY 10005. Telephone 1-800-250-3819. ...

.
If You have any questions, require customer service, or wish to report a claim, please contact: Service Net, 650 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville, IN 47130,or call the toll free number listed on the reverse side of this contract

Two questions:

1. Did you purchase the warranty when you bought the board? If not, you need to ask Newegg if you can purchase it, now.

2. Did Newegg return the board to you? If not, you may need to have it in your possession to file any claim. Phone Service Net's toll free number to find out exactly how to proceed.

Hope that helps. Good luck. :)

1. I can still purchase the warranty at any time.

2. It's shipping back to me right now, so I will have to wait until it gets here and then ship it for service.

I just wanted to make sure it covered everything that's wrong with the motherboard.

Thank you very much!

If properly boxed with the plastic protector on the socket I don't think pins can bend so easily. Dunno about that one. I'd bet that they did it when looking at it but you can't prove that. Sometimes the guys in receiving are total idiots and don't know a GPU from a NIC and they open up something to look at it and of course they are told they have to check for bent pins. It is not impossible that they bent them trying to fumble with the retention bracket.

I wouldn't necessarily blame them but I've heard of this before from newegg on other forums. I know from experience that if you put the protector on the socket properly, wrap the board in the anti static bag (or in the case of Asus ROG boards the plastic window/tray), and set it all back in the box and properly protect the shipment with bubble wrap or other packing materials, it's almost impossible to break anything on the board without using the box for batting practice. So...it sucks but I doubt it was the shipping or how you packaged it if you did what I mentioned.
