Motherboard Related Drive Issue

NEC 3550 burner

Will read burnt dvds ONLY in slave mode with ANOTHER drive attached in master mode

Otherwise, master or slave, it just tells me the disk is a blank cd, even though it is a dvd with data on it?

Did I mess up some motherboard config? 😱😱
 
Sounds weird...

Do you have any other IDE cables around to try with? Sounds a little bit like how a drive set to cable select might behave, but even that shouldn't mess up in such a way.

I know. Super weiard. :hmm::hmm:

I tried numerous cables and configurations.

No go unless two drives are connected. 😱

I should also mention,, it WILL burn dvds just fine. But will not read the disks , IT just BURNED..

The disks are all readable in other computers.. so i knowww my baby's sick.
