I would like to upgrade my ASUS A7V motherboard. I want to go to a board that supports both DDR and SDRAM. I would like something that I can overclock on, I am not overclocking by that much now but I would like to in the future. I want basically what the A7V gives me but with SDRAM and DDR support. Also please tell me where I can purchase the board on line.

Thank you,

If OC'ing isn't a big thing for you, the ECS K7S5A is about $60-$70 and runs on the SiS 735 chipset (which is second only to the revamped KT266A and nForce boards in speed). There are a couple of minor bugs for this board, but they're easily fixed if you install the latest bios and drivers. It supports DDR and SDRAM, all Athlon and Duron processors, and is ATA100 on the board; it also has integrated LAN and sound (the NIC is good, the sound sucks).
Otherwise, go with a new ASUS based on KT266A or nForce.

The only recommended board with both sdram and ddram support is the ECS K7S5A for about $65. It has 2 sdram and 2 ddram slots, with onboard sound and lan. Only negative is limited overclocking, strictly by changing the fsb. This board has had both major and minor glitches, and is quite popular. There are other boards with the ali magic chipset, but they are slower than the Ecs and amd 761 boards. I have an fic ad11 with the amd 761 chipset that I'm getting ready to sell as soon as my shuttle ak31 v3 comes in. The fic has worked flawlessly for the last 3-4 months, but I like to try out new boards often.
