Alright, my question is this.

I am not exactly sure what I want as far as CPU, well, I'm more inclined for an athlon XP 2000 but I've never used any AMD chip, so far all I've used is intel- so I guess I need some affirmation on AMD or some sort of proof that it's worth the investment.

So, through looking the SY-K7V DRAGON Ultra ( http://www.soyousa.com/sykt333.html ) motherboard caught my eye hardcore.. I was wondering, would this be the best motherboard for an athlon XP system (and I plan on getting DDR ram along with it). I was primarily looking for a board with no on board anything, but since this one has only sound - I can disable it easily. SO, for AMD should I go for this board, or can you guys/gals point me to a better motherboard w/ nothing on board? (no onboard sound, video etc).

For a P4 I have no clue, so if you guys/gals could point me towards what you think is the best one out there to check out, just in case, I'd appreciate it.

Thnx in advance!!!!!!!

The P4's will drop 25-50% in price in about 2 weeks. Whether the venders will pass on all the savings is another question. The sis 645 will permit you to overclock the ddram to 166 or more. I wouldn't touch a p4 unless you overclock it. At 100 fsb (quad pumped = 400 megahurtz) it's pretty slow next to the athlon xp. Read Tom's hardware guide review of 10 sis 645 boards and decide for yourself. The best P4 for value is still the 1.6a northwood at about $133. The msi 645 ultra is only $72 (both prices newegg.com).
